Violin

Chia-Nan Hung, a native of Taiwan, started playing the violin at the age of seven. He studied violin with Jan Tawroszewicz in New Zealand, then Alice Waten, Chris Kimber, Wanda Wilkomirska and Carl Pini in Australia. Graduated from the Sydney Conservatorium of Music in 2005 and studied Graduate Diploma in 2006, he was also a recipient of the Dean scholarship to pursue Masters at the Indiana university in 2007.
Chia-Nan held a position with the Malaysian Philharmonic Orchestra during 2008 to 2021. He has also played in ensembles such as the Australian Opera and Ballet Orchestra, Sydney Symphony, and Singapore Symphony Orchestra. Throughout the years, he has worked with eminent conductors such as Lorin Maazel, Valery Gergiev, Fabio Luisi, Kees Bakels, Imre Pallo, Matthias Bamert, Gianluigi Gelmetti.
Before moving to New Zealand, he won several competitions including first price in the Taiwan National Violin competition at the age of 12. In 1998, he was awarded the 2nd Prize for the National Concerto Competition in New Zealand and was a prize winner for the Gisbourne International Competition in 1999. He performed as soloist in numerous concerts with the Christchurch Symphony Orchestra. He also participated in masterclasses held by Nai-Yuan Hu, Charles Castleman, Hubert Kroisamer and Alessandro Cappone.
Chia-Nan had a well established student base during the 14 years in Kuala Lumpur, with students achieving various awards such as the second prize of the Osaka international music competition for age group of under 7 years old in 2015
