Hye-Won Suh is an active musician across New Zealand, versatile as a solo player, chamber player, and orchestral player. She has played as a guest player in Auckland Philharmonia Orchestra, Dunedin Symphony Orchestra and New Zealand Symphony Orchestra. She holds a Master of Music from the University of Auckland and a Graduate Diploma from the New England Conservatory of Music, Boston.

Hye-Won’s competition successes include; first prize in the KBB New Zealand Woodwind Competition, first prize in the Tauranga Performing Arts Competition, and being the youngest finalists at the Australian Flute Competition. She has performed the Ibert Flute Concerto and Mozart Concerto in G with various orchestras and played principal flute roles with the Auckland Youth Orchestra, the University of Auckland Orchestra, and NZSO National Youth Orchestra. 


Hye-Won received a number of scholarships during her study in New Zealand and the United States, including Anne Bellam Scholarships, John Baros Scholarship, NZSO Alex Lindsay Award, the UOA Vice Chancellor’s Arts Support Fund. She was also a fellowship student of the NZSO and the recipient of AIMES Music Award sponsored by Albany Toyota.

Hye-Won is a highly demanded teacher in Auckland and her students gain distinction in ABRSM and Trinity Grade exams. She loves working with students at every level from a young beginner to diploma.
