Indian-Kiwi violinist Joella Pinto considers it a privilege to have been able to dedicate her life to music. Joella has recently returned to New Zealand after studying and working in North America. As an active performer, she is currently on contract with the Auckland Philharmonia Orchestra and has also played with the New Zealand Symphony Orchestra and Canadian Opera Company, among others. Joella has been a soloist with the Auckland Symphony Orchestra, St Matthew’s Chamber Orchestra, and the Aorangi Symphony Orchestra. Joella is also an artist on roster for the Lincoln Center Stage Programme on Holland America Line, based in New York City.

Joella has performed at music festivals such as Tafelmusik Baroque Summer Institute, Domaine Forget International Academy, Tuckamore Chamber Music Festival and has been invited to Music by the Sea in Bamfield and Juilliard at the Piccolo Accademia in Tuscany, although Covid-19 disrupted these festivals.

During her student years, Joella has won the 1st Prize in the Glenn Gould School Chamber Music Competition with the Summerhill Quartet, the NZSO Alex Lindsay Award and the John Chisholm Concertmaster Prize, among others. Joella has also been the grateful recipient of The University of Auckland Scholarship, Anne Bellam Scholarship, Stephen Staryk Violin Scholarship, The FCCP (Ontario) Education Scholarship and The Stephen Wong Scholarship.

As a passionate teacher, Joella has enjoyed teaching at several schools as well as privately in Auckland and Toronto.
