Chamber music is a form of music composed for a small group of instruments. It is an essential part of music education and enables students to develop musical and social skills. Most importantly, it is fun!

Our chamber music programme began in 2018. It is a major highlight at our EMS-ACG Parnell Academy Concert which takes place twice a year. 

Ensembles are formed into groups of duos, trios or quartets and supervised by highly accomplished and experienced chamber coaches at weekly rehearsals.

We are excited to announce our first holiday program which will take place during the upcoming Spring break 30th September - 12th October. 

This program aims to expose our students to chamber music ensembles and enhance group performance skills. 

Three of our ensembles competed successfully in the 2024 NZCT Chambermusic Contest in June, and we would like to encourage our students and teachers to participate next year. Whether students are preparing for next year’s Contest or simply want to have fun, our program is designed to cater to all levels.

• Takes the students off their devices during the holidays

• Concert at the end of the two weeks

What : 

• Intense Chambermusic ensemble group rehearsal / coaching with one of our fantastic tutors

• 4 x three hour coaching sessions led by one of our teachers, with 30min break in the middle (snacks will be provided)

• Concert opportunity at the end of the two weeks in Davis Theatre

• Student led rehearsals can take place during daytime if supervised by one of our teachers (TBA)

Who : 

Students in or outside of EMS-ACG Parnell Academy who plays a classical instrument. All levels welcome.

Fee : 

Between $400 - $500 depending on the number of performers in the ensemble.
