Miyo Yoon is a freelance violinist and violin teacher living in Auckland. She completed her Bachelor of Music with Honours in Performance Violin at Victoria University of Wellington in 2005. Since then, she has worked as a casual violinist with the New Zealand Symphony Orchestra, Auckland Philharmonia Orchestra, Orchestra Wellington, Christchurch Symphony Orchestra, Auckland Chamber Orchestra, Auckland Arts Festival, Coca-Cola Christmas in the Park, and many others. Artists she has performed with over the years include Jose Carreras, Kiri Te Kanawa, Simon O'Neill, Nikolaj Schneider, K D Lang, Rod Stewart, Lauryn Hill, Dionne Warwick, Don McGlashan, Anika Moa, Neil Finn, Stan Walker, Gin Wigmore, Hollie Smith, Julia Deans, Boh Runga, Josh Groban, and Michael Buble.

Miyo's current passion is playing chamber music with friends. She plays regularly with Matata Ensemble, Auckland String Group, and Auckland Chamber Music Collective.

Miyo has over 15 years of teaching experience. From teaching privately to small groups, mature students, from beginner to advanced, and conducted orchestras and taken sectionals. She was a tutor and conductor with the Tironui Music Trust for many years, sole violin and viola tutor at Sancta Maria College, and ran her own studio at home, before joining EMS. She is thrilled to join the EMS family. She hopes to inspire each and every student, and instil confidence through technique building, musical exploration, and performance.
