Raewyn Winter was born in New Zealand, where she completed a BMus(Hons) with Anthony Ferner. She went on to study at the Royal Northern College of Music with Richard Davis, Linda Verrier and Joanne Boddington, graduating with a PGDip and MMus. 

She was a recipient of Arts Excellence Awards from the Malvina Major Foundation and the Tytheridge Travelling Scholarship in Arts. 

Returning to New Zealand in 2008, Raewyn now enjoys a busy teaching career in Auckland and continues to perform as a freelance musician with orchestras including the Auckland Philharmonia, Auckland Chamber Orchestra and Christchurch Symphony.
